Paulo and I went to see Joss Stone perform at Brixton Academy. She has an amazing, soulful voice that belies her young age (she's 17). However, her young age shows on stage. She needs several more years of experience to attain a mature stage persona but she's on her way. She giggled too much, screwed up one song and had to start over and gushed like a school girl about her boyfriend (well, she IS young and in love!) Most of the time, she didn't speak clearly or with enough confidence. But like I said, this girl has a serious future! I don't think I'll be buying any more of the CDs because her music is taking a pop, funky direction that I'm not too crazy about. But I love her first CD Soul Sessions, with all those classic covers and the first song "Right to be wrong" on her latest CD is amazing. It was performed really well on stage too.
