Let's not overlook / forget about this Promo site : www.whitesnake.com/promos/index.htmlChristmas promos 2002 include downloadable music files that are available to radio stations .... I have just sent the link to Czech Radio (that I mentioned number of time for it is great for rock music) www.radiobeat.cz ... Maybe we can just sent it out to number of stations in our "localities" to help and spread the word a bit ;D For Czech radio stations I already have a list. Btw. I like the new "Whitesnake.com" logo design ;D

Transcript of Rockline interview with David Coverdale, July 2, 2003. (http://www.rocklineradio.com/)
Transcript by Pina aka Storm.
PART 1:
Live via Satellite from the entertainment capital of the world, it’s Rockline, North America’s number one rock radio program. Hi, I’m Bob Coburn and tonight from KOZZ in Reno, we welcome David Coverdale of Whitesnake (…) And now, let’s welcome our guest…
Bob: Let’s welcome our guest indeed. About a dozen years had passed since David Coverdale and Whitesnake had toured in the US. That changed earlier this year as David hit the road with Scorpions and Dokken. Now David prepares to embark on the Rock Never Stops Tour with Warrant, Kip Winger and Slaughter, and Rockline welcomes from KOZZ in Reno, David Coverdale. David, how are you this evening?
David: Well, I’d like to just turn around, Bill, and say that Reno is the cultural center of the known universe (laughs). You guys are in there in L.A. all the time taking all the credit but Reno is pretty happenin’!
Bob: Well, you know when you live in the Lake Tahoe area and you come down to Reno, Reno is the biggest little city in the world.
David: It’s an absolute pleasure for me to get away from the moth infestation and the pollen for a moment. (laughs) How are you doing, William?
Bob: I’m doing fine and it’s Robert, by the way.
David: Nice to speak with you.
Bob: Just to remind you, it is Bob not William, so yeah…
David: I’ve just been speaking to a Bob… sorry! (laughs)
Bob: That’s all right (laughs). How was the tour with Scorpions and Dokken. How did that go?
David: It was a treat. It was an absolute treat. It appeared to me, and my heart and my colleagues, that everybody had missed the Whitesnake music as much as I had missed performing it for them.
Bob: Did you get that type of reaction city after city?
David: It was great. It was very consistent and so much so that we are going back out again on the “Grab a Hold of This Tour”.
Bob: (laughs) Before it slips away from you, yes.
David: Indeed, yes. Yes, we continue with the entendres (laughs).
Bob: Now with Scorpions with Dokken, did you become better friends or were you at each other’s throats by the end of the tour?
David: No, we’re dear friends. In fact, the Scorps came to see me in Hannover. We just finished a very successful European tour. It’s gone crazy, actually. I gotta tell you, Bob, I didn’t anticipate this because even though I was calling the Scorpions thing the “Mmm Nice Package” Tour, it was basically a testing-the-waters tour. It had been so long. I had no idea if anybody would be remotely interested, and fortunately, we played to almost half a million people in less than six months.
Bob: Are you kidding me? That’s outstanding!
David: That’s great. Yeah, it was great. Europe was exceptional. It was 7 years, 8 years since I had been over there. It was wonderful. And I have a message for some of the people on my bulletin board who are up listening to this interview in Europe right now: “Go to bed!” (laughs) “Go to bed! It’s an interview!”
Bob: They’ll stay up if they want. They’re Whitesnake fans and fans of yours as well. So that’s the way it’s gonna be. Now, how did you hook up on the “Rock Never Stops” tour with Kip Winger, and Slaughter and Warrant?
David: It was interesting. The company offered me significant amounts of money, waving it under my nose. It had a particularly pleasant perfume. (laughs) But, it was great. It’s an absolute perfect opportunity to get out and continue spreading the gospel of The Snake.
Bob: Yes indeed. Dead Presidents are always nice to have in hand. No doubt about that.
David: They are. It’s champion. And I have another child to put through college, darling!
Bob: Ah, you see, there you go! Now, are you friends with these guys in the other bands already? Or are you about to become friends with Warrant and Kip Winger and Slaughter?

PART 2:
David: Well, actually, no, we’re about to become friends, I think. We’ve met each other, I think, in passing. But certainly – Kip – I’ve been very curious about to work with for many, many years, so that’s exciting for me that he’s going to be working with us. I’ve sniffed him around. I was so disappointed and, actually, angry when I saw how Kip Winger was used as a poster boy for 80’s excess or good-looking bands or whatever, many years ago. I didn’t like it at all because he’s an exceptionally talented man. And I actually scoped him out to work with Jimmy Page and I when we did the Coverdale Page project. However, he was actually doing another album at the time so I backed off in terms of approach. But from that time, he heard I was researching him and we got in touch and turned into good friends so I’m very pleased that he’s going to be with us out there.
Bob: I think there are those who forget or don’t know that Kip was in Alice Cooper’s band for a long while as an accomplished musician to say the least. He will be performing solo, I guess.
David: Yeah, exactly. And he is a great, great singer.
Bob: How’s your band playing now after being on the road with Scorpions and Dokken?
David: Frighteningly well. (laughs) It’s the United Snakes of America. (laughs)
Bob: “Here We Go Again”. It’s David Coverdale on Rockline.
David: It is!
(plays Here I Go Again – Radio Mix)
Bob: It’s Whitesnake with “Here I Go Again”. There are two versions of that song: the radio mix, which is what we just played, and the album version. Thought we’d switch things up and play the radio mix for a change. We usually play the album stuff here on Rockline. We’ll take a time out. We’ll return in just a moment. A chance for you to speak with David Coverdale coming up. (…) You’re listening to Rockline.
(go to commercials… fade out with “Judgement Day”)
Bob: Welcome back to Rockline. I’m Bob Coburn with David Coverdale. (…) From Long Island, Mike starts us off! Mike, you’re on Rockline with David Coverdale.
Mike: Hey David! It’s Lisa and Cool Mike from the board.
David: Baby! I knew it! I had a feeling! As soon as he said there was a call from New York City. How are you doing? How is the baby? How is the tummy?
Lisa: Hi Dave!
Mike: That’s Lisa.
David: Hi sweetie pie! How are you?
Lisa: How are you, doll?
David: Much more interesting… how are you? How is your tummy?
Lisa: It’s getting big!
David: Ah, superb! Superb!
Lisa: It’s coming along.
Bob: David, fill us in on who we are speaking with here.
David: This is Lisa and Cool Mike. They’re two members of the whitesnake.com bulletin board. The global family that rules! New York people… I see them every time we’re in New York. It’s a treat to hear from you.
Bob: All right, Mike. Go ahead. What’s your question for David?
Mike: Are you going to add a New York date? Or are we going to have to travel to Connecticut or New Jersey??
David: I gotta tell ya, we’re trying to hit places that we didn’t get on that first lap round with the Scorpions and stuff. I’m as disappointed as you. And I’m not hitting the Pacific Northwest, which is a huge disappointment. I’m not to blame! Blame Nick Caris of the Agency in New York! Call him! Blame him! Sorry babes! (laughs)
Bob: Anything else, Mike?
Mike: We will make the travel, but we need to know one question. Will you possibly do anything off Into the Light live?
David: For you guys, I would! For you guys… but don’t be traveling if you’re too pregnant, baby.
Lisa: That’s my Prince Charming!
Bob: (laughs)
David: Yeah baby! Nice to hear from ya!

PART 3
Bob: We’ll play something off Into the Light in a just moment, as a matter of fact, after we speak with Mac in Pensacola. Hi, Mac!
Mac: Hello. Thank you, Bob. Hello, David!
David: How are you?
Mac: Doing great! Great to talk to you again.
David: And to you, sir!
Mac: My question is: with the way the current state of the music business is…
David: Ooh! Don’t go there. Don’t go there if you want me to stop! (laughs)
Mac: Oh, I was just going to say… what suggestions would you make to improve matters for the artists as well as the fans? And how do you propose to release new music in the future?
David: Ah, okay. I’ll try to nutshell this. I’m as disappointed as you are at the way the music business is behaving. I’ve just been talking to my dear friend Bob about… I just read a recent report where the RIAA, which is the Recording Industry of Association of America, and the majors, are going to be suing consumers who download free music, which to me is not the way to do it. You got to look at what you are doing wrong in terms of your business model before you even go there. I’m very excited as a musician to see something like Apple, where they’re doing those downloads for 99 cents a track. It’s economically agreeable to just about anybody, I would imagine. You can audition the track and find out if you like it, rather than spend 20 bucks and get home and find one or two decent songs on there. They’ve got to change the way they do things. The way they do things is old-fashioned and greedy. It has to stop.
Bob: Boy, I couldn’t agree more. And I’ve bought a couple of stinkers in the past week or two, I tell ya. (laughs)
David: (laughs) I’ll tell them which ones if you…
Bob: No, let’s not mention which ones. I have to work with some of these people. (laughs)
David: No, no, I know!
Bob: There are a couple though…
David: I know you can’t dance to it though! (laughs)
Bob: (laughs) Not one of them in particular. An album that people are raving about… I went out and bought it and took it home and just went “Oh my god! I don’t get it at all!”.
David: It’s a critical thing, I think.
Bob: Yeah. And as we were discussing off the air, David, it’s kind of like biting the hand that feeds for the RIAA to sue their own consumers. It just doesn’t make sense.
David: And then there is some perverse senator in government, who shall remain nameless at the moment, who has recommended that we send some kind of Internet explosive device down the Internet to blow up whoever is trying to download something free (laughs).
Bob: We’ll just send him down the hatch and be done with it!
David: Oh, indeed, indeed. (laughs)
Bob: From the album Into the Light, David Coverdale with “She Give Me” on Rockline…
(plays “She Give Me”)
Bob: That’s just a stellar song: “She Give Me” from Into the Light solo album by David Coverdale. Talking about Whitesnake, David’s solo music and letting you have a chance to speak with David as well, and we have Charles from Richmond, Kentucky. Welcome to the show, Charles.
Charles: Thank you very much. Hi, David.
David: Hi, Charles. How are you?
Charles: Very nervous. I’m very excited to talk to you. You’re one of the best, ever.
David: Oh, thank you very much.
Charles: You’re very welcome. Two quick questions….
David: Thank you, Charles and so are you!
Charles: (laughs) Thank you, sir. I grew up listening to you and I think you are great! Two quick questions: one, what is your favourite album you have ever done, Whitesnake, solo, or whatever… and two, how in the world can I get backstage passes to meet you?
David: Oh! (laughs) There’s an old adage for the backstage passes, but I won’t go there. (laughs) That’s always luck of the draw. I should imagine that you got to be over 11 or 12 because by the time this agent is getting me on stage, it’s like 10:45 or 10:30 or something, at night, so don’t let that put you off. So, favourite album…
Bob: Favourite album… tough, tough, tough, tough.
David: I tell you, actually, yeah, there’s one you can probably get on Amazon. It’s a 25-year silver anniversary collection I’ve just put together for the rest of the world. Unfortunately, not over here but my history goes a bit further back in Europe. You probably can get that on Amazon or something. It’s a double CD, a retrospect of the last 25 years. I’ve been enjoying playing that a lot.
