This is a song by RUSH off their "Hold Your Fire" album that makes me feel good whenever I hear it. It is probably one of the most beautiful songs I know--TIME STAND STILL.
I turn my back to the wind To catch my breath Before I start off again Driven on Without a moment to spend To pass an evening With a drink and a friend
I let my skin get too thin I'd like to pause No matter what I pretend Like some pilgrim-- Who learns to transcend-- Learns to live As if each step was the end
Time stand still-- I'm not looking back-- But I want to look around me now See more of the people And the places that surround me Now
Freeze this moment A little bit longer Make each sensation A little bit stronger Experience slips away...
I turn my face to the sun Close my eyes Let my defences down-- All those wounds That I can't get unwound
I let my past go too fast No time to pause-- If I could slow it all down Like some captain Whose ship runs aground-- I can wait until the tide Comes around
Make each impression A little bit stronger Freeze this motion A little bit longer The innocence slips away
Summer's going fast-- Nights growing colder Children growing up-- Old friends growing older Experience slips away

And here is yet another song by RUSH, off of their "Hold Your Fire" album. This song gives me a sense of peace when I hear it, and it also holds special meaning to me. Sometimes it brings a tear to my eye. Let me present to you TAI SHAN. High on the sacred mountain Up the seven thousand stairs In the golden light of autumn There was magic in the air Clouds surrounded the summit The wind blew strong and cold Among the silent temples And the writings carved in gold Somewhere in my instincts The primitive took hold I stood at the top of the mountain And China sang to me In the peaceful haze of harvest time A song of eternity-- If you raise your hands to heaven You will live a hundred years I stood there like a mystic Lost in the atmosphere The clouds were suddenly parted For a moment I could see The patterns of the landscape Reaching to the eastern sea I looked upon a presence Spanning forty centuries I thought of time and distance The hardships of history I heard the hope and the hunger When China sang to me

This is another of my favorite songs, another by Dream Theatre:
Surrounded
Morning comes too early and nighttime falls too late And sometimes all I want to do is wait The shadow I've been hiding in has fled from me today
I know it's easier to walk away than look it in the eye But I will raise a shelter to the sky and beneath this star tonight I'll lie She will slowly yield the light As I awaken from the longest night
Dreams are shaking Set sirens waking up tired eyes With the light memories all rush into his head
By a candle stands a mirror Of his heart and soul she dances She was dancing through the night above his bed
And walking to the window he throws the shutters out against the wall And from an ivory tower hears her call "Let the light surround you"
It's been a long, long time He's had awhile to hink it over In the end he only sees the change Light to dark Dark to light Light to dark Dark to light
Heaven must be more than this When angels waken with a kiss Sacred hearts won't take the pain But mine will never be the same
He stands before the window His shadow slowly fading from the wall And from an ivory tower he hears her call "Let the light surround you"
Once lost but I was found When I heard the stained glass shatter all around me I sent the spirits tumbling down the hill But I will hold this one on high above me still I once could see but now at last I'm blind
I know it's easier to walk away than look it in the eye But I had given all than I could take And now I've only habits left to break Tonight I'll still be lying here Surrounded in all the light

Yet Another by them:
Under a Glass Moon
Tell me Remind me Chase the water racing from the sky Always beside me Taste the memories running from my eyes Nervous flashlights scan my dreams Liquid shadows silence their screams I smile at the moon Chasing water from the sky I argue with the clouds Stealing beauty from my eyes
Outside the soundness of your mind Bathing your soul in silver tears Beneath a blackened summer sky Praying for time to disappear
Beneath a summer sky Under glass moonlight Night awaits the lamb's arrival Liquid shadows crawl Silver teardrops fall The bride subsides to her survival
By your hand I've awakened Bear this honor in my name

Today I fancy something different! I found myself playing 'The Best of James Taylor' and the first track is 'Something In The Way She Moves', which is a cool, classic track. I'll dedicate this song to you, my borboleta.
Something In the Way She Moves
Something in the way she moves, or looks my way, or calls my name that seems to leave this troubled world behind. And if I'm feeling down and blue or troubled by some foolish game, she always seems to make me change my mind..
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now, she's around me now almost about all the time. And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now. She's been with me now quite a long, long time and I feel fine.
Every now and then the things I lean on lose their meaning and I find myself careening in places where I should not let me go. She has the power to go where no one else can find me and to silently remind me of the happiness and the good times that I know, and then I just got to go then.
It isn't what she's got to say but how she thinks and where she's been. To me, the words are nice, the way they sound. I like to hear them best that way, it doesn't much matter what they mean. she says them mostly just to calm me down
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now, she's around me now almost about all the time. And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now. She's been with me now quite a long, long time and I feel fine.

one of my everytime faves songs...a sad beautiful song.. The Mission "Butterfly on a Wheel"
Silver and gold and it's growing cold Autumn leaves lay as thick as thieves Shivers down your spine chill you to the bone 'Cos the mandolin wind is the melody that turns Your heart to stone The heat of your breath carving shadow on the mist Every angel has the wish that she's never been kissed A broken dream haunting in your sleep And hiding in your smile a secret you must keep, love Cuts you deep Love breaks the wings of a butterfly on a wheel Love breaks the wings of a butterfly on a wheel
There's no scarlet in you, lay your veil down for me As sure as God made wine, you can't wrap your arms Around a memory Take warmth from me, cold Autumn winds cut sharp as a Knife And in the dark for me, you're the candle flame that Flickers to life Love breaks the wings of a butterlfy on a wheel Love will break the wings of a butterfly on a wheel
Wise men say all is fair in love and war There's no right or wrong in the design of love And I could only watch as the wind crushed your wings Broken and torn crushed like the flower under the snow And like the flower in spring Love will rise again to heal your wings Love heals the wings of a butterfly on a wheel Love will heal the wings of a butterfly on a wheel
