I am at long last back with my mini-report from my over-night stay at Trutnov Open Air Fest. I went there primarily to see Motorhead on Friday Aug. 20, and I did. (only that they played after midnight on Saturday Aug. 21) ;D
I left home on Friday at 5 AM to be in Trutnov around noon. It was raining hell and even before I got to the gates, I was just thoroughly soaked. Only there the detailed Fest programme was made available and so I found out that Motorhead would be on around 00.45 AM .... Hell, what a wait that was !!!!
Below you can see couple of fairly poor pics from the fest venue (apart for rain, there was no proper lighting, nor stage lighting : ie no front lights pointing towards the stage / bands) ... "Na Bojisti" is a park / summer theatre area with trees, mud, lawn and a camp. The main stage is set in a "pit", which is "great" especially when heavy rain is on. ;D
Anyway, it is the first time I used my digital camera in real life situation and now I know : I shall never take pics at HQ, yet always at SHQ to get some decent result ... and most importantly, I shall always carry an extra and charged battery .... Of course the battery went off when the Motorhead were on !!!!
OMG, how I hated myself for that !!!!
Yet, there is one thing I may be proud of ;D ... I was one of the few (and the only woman) who survived at the 1st row / pressed extremely hard against the stage - barrier without having have to be rescued by the security and carried over it for escape ... the pressure from the back was probably one of the worst I ever experineced plus we were "graced" with presence of real scum : just next to me there was a football-kind of "hoolingan" (you know that brainless creature you can tell even from huge distance from the rest of population) who was there to provoke violence. He tried hard to make me leave and escape via the stage barrier YET I belong to that kind of breed that loathe physical violence which in my case means to oppose it. ;D (after all, my motto - along with Sepultura - is Refuse / Resist ). Later during that concert that beast was cut off by a decent haeadbanging guy who were almost "two heads" above that idiot, he made a perfect shield for me for which I thanked him at the end of the concert.
Anyway, I must have given some kind of impressive performance for another guy in his early 20s invited me for a beer (which involved steep and long climb on muddy slope at 3 AM and total darkness), and then his friend joined us and we were walking the night Trutnov chatting about music, climbing while kicking beer paper cups all way through Trutnov. I was in my hotel around 4 AM ...
So anyway, this was my vacation . Since I survived this without any real damage caused, I think I can venture Sepultura / Motorhead gig in London and Birmingham ... though I do not think I will risk 1st row in London !!!!! BTW: PAULO, any expert opinion on that ?
Oh yes, Motorhead : the music / sound was great at least for the 1st row (I have noticed some sound complaints on the Net ... but on the other hand, by midnight most of the audience was drunk / stoned anyway !!! ... c. 12.000 people on that night). They played older stuff mostly. From what I remember : We Are Motorhead, Civil War, God Save The Queen, Metropolis, R.A.M.O.N.E.S. , Life's a Bitch (a new one), Over The Top, Sacrifice, Overkill .... and some more. They finished around 2.20 AM.
It was my first MH concert, and from this close-distance I really loved it. Lemmy doesnt look his age, btw.
If I remember some more details, I will add them later.
And here are the snaps :
The main stage before people start coming in ... it was raining like hell :-(
One of few cafés at the end of the "path"
Inside a tea-room / tent
Early afternoon / Czech "hard core" Nasrot = Stoned
Later in the afternoon, some Slovak band was on
Abother tea room ... plus the sun started showing up
Night performances started ... an Italian act ... some kind of pop / rock / Persiana Jones
Czech "punks" from Tabor / Sunshine
Czech band from Pilsen / Esgmeg
Stage getting ready for Motorhead (around 00.30 - 00.45 AM)
And that was it ... the battery went off. Lemmy in red
I will do my best to get to the UK for the end of the UK tour ... I do need to see Sepultura live and of course, I want to get some good snaps of Motorhead. I hope it wont cost me life. mellon.topcities.com/SubDirectory/smilies/hehe.gif
