This is only a brief message ... I came from Wacken on Sunday afternoon with high fever and in near-to collapse state. I thought it was tonsilits but it turned out to be some lymphatic system inflammation so I ended up on high doses of antibiotis and useful recoimmednatiomn to take it easy and have some rest ... I am leaving for Wasted punk festival tomorrow, so I will see how it goes. ;D
So anyway, at this stage just a random notes ...
Best moments of Wacken (for me and in no specific order) : Soulfly, Fear Factory, Mortal Sin, Amon Amarth, Celtic Frost, Motorhead, Finntroll, CoB, Bloodthorn .. oh btw. I made a brief (very brief) review of Whitesnake at WS web-site / reviews section. Oh yes, biggest and nicest surprise. MINISTRY !!!! Fucking brutal and brilliant !!!!!
As for Motorhead - I didnt even take pictures for i was LYING throughout the gig on the ground unable to stand due to high fever and chill ... quite a nightmare, I can tell you !!!! Finntroll played after them, and they put me on feet to that extend that I was able to walk to the bus - we were leaving at 3.30 for Prague ....
I made a brief review for Soulfly boards which reads ...
SOULFLY : fantastic performance ... perfect sound in the first place, dense, clear, brutal, dynamic ... I was at the side of the frontline, which is normally not the best place for sound, but there it was for sure the best attainable sound at an environment like that. As for the setlist - random listing would be about this :
Babylon, Prophecy, Seek 'n' Strike, Roots Bloody Roots, Jmpdafuckup, and I, Fire, Execution Style, Porrada, L.O.T.M., The Song Remains Insane, Frontlines, Back to the Primitive, Eye For an Eye ...
Before the show, security brought in a very old lady on a wheelchair - I couldnt see to the extreme left of the stage, but after the concert Bobby jumped down to the middle section of the stage and shook hands with somebody under the stage ... I wonder whether it was that old lady ? ... or perhaps to somebody from the security - they were pretty busy throughout the gig.
By the way, WOA was sold out this year which must have made some 100.000 people ... amazing event !

And a response to a question ... Did they look tired ? : Not even for a moment, I forgot to mention that Max was jumping for most of the gig which is something you do not see him doing too often and intensely ... hell, he was as good as Marc, save for the "turns" ... incredible. As I mentioned the perfect sound so the whole performance felt unbelievably fresh ... mybe they took "2nd etc. "breath" as it were. There are moments when you perform best when entirely down.
There are many things worth mentioning about Wacken, but I will have to do it later, after back from Wasted ... I have to pack for tomorrow + my energy level is not as high as usual
As for the pix, for the time being I have FTP'ed lower resoulution pix onto my server ... later I will do the quick.
So below is an ad hoc selection ...
