Good to see you posting here ! ;D ... MetroiD, you are my man ... can you imagine there are even people who found Tom Bombadil boring ? I loved that chapter + the Barrow-downs chapter from my very first reading. When it comes to the film characters : my fave ones are Gandalf indeed, Elrond (I just love Hugo Weaving in that role ... his sentce / his tone And yet, to have come so far, still bearing the Ring, the Hobbit has showed extraordinary resilience to its evil. is awesome ... Agent Smith would not utter this one better, lol. ) .... Saruman is not bad ... of course, still taking into account all those changes.

Well, I found that us, who post on this site share something special. We have lots in common and it is amazing to see how many people actually think the way I do and have simmilar likes and hobbies.
For example LOTR. Like I said, before, the book got to me after I saw the film. I was made to read the book when I was 10 and I didn't like it at all (like with anything you are MADE to do). But now I can actually choose what I can/can't do, I asked for the LOTR trilogy for my birthday, and I am slowly making my way through them. I can relate to lots in this book, being in England, where the book is situated. And I love it. ... even Tom Bombadil ;D And like you too, I think that they should have included him in the story. The thing is, they couldn't have put everything in, otherwise we wouldn't be leaving the cinema after 3 ... but mabye after 6-7hrs. Tom has his own story in the book and I think they found it (sadly) easy to leave him out. Jana&Bobby, but did you actually like the film? Or are you still sticking with the book? I have friend, who lives in Plzen(CR) - she is actually my best friend - and she IS die hard LOTR fan! She must have read the book at least 10 times and she saw each film about 5 times (in the cinema). And she really liked it. What do you actually, think of the films?

Of course no film can quite compare to the books. The beauty and complexity of the story is best appreciated in one's own mind. In my opinion the first movie captured the spirit of the story better than the second movie. There were too many illogical and unexplainable changes to the storyline in TTT. I highly recommend everyone read The Silmarillion (I know you already must have, Mellon). It is very beautifully written. Okay...enough rambling. *scurries off to her hiding place*
