Mary, to tell the truth, I never liked Johnny Depp. He was too ... Mr Smooth for me. But when I saw him in Pirates of the Caribbean ... I thought ... WOW ... now that is someone I can watch and not get bored with all day!!!

Right, i saw Tomb Raider:The Cradle Of Life this friday. As a big Indiana Jones fan, I like this kind of films. And I thought, that this one was OK. But if it wasn't for Angelina Jolie, ... mmm I don't know! But I think that she is awesome! The first film I saw her in was GIRL, Interupted - along with Winona Ryder. That was a good movie to see, to introduce me to her potential.

Really, really boring! Here are some delicious comments from rottentomatoes.com: "To better understand why this didn't connect with me would require another viewing, and I won't be sitting through this one again...that in itself is commentary enough." -- John Venable, SUPERCALA.COM
"Scorsese doesn't give us a character worth giving a d**n about." -- Christopher Smith, BANGOR DAILY NEWS (MAINE)
"A film that suffers because of its many excesses." -- Jeff Vice, DESERET NEWS, SALT LAKE CITY
"…a big, baggy, sprawling carnival of a movie, stretching out before us with little rhyme or reason." -- Rob Vaux, FLIPSIDE MOVIE EMPORIUM
"Gangs of New York is an unapologetic mess, whose only saving grace is that it ends by blowing just about everything up." -- Joshua Tyler, FILM HOBBIT
"The world needs more filmmakers with passionate enthusiasms like Martin Scorsese. But it doesn't need Gangs of New York." -- Stephanie Zacharek, SALON.COM
"The streets, shot by cinematographer Michael Ballhaus, may be as authentic as they are mean, but it is nearly impossible to care about what happens on them." -- Kenneth Turan, LOS ANGELES TIMESI agree wholeheartedly!

Oh Pina, I haven't seen The Gangs Of New York yet, but the whole propaganda around it makes me go PHEW I haven't seen it. And looking at the comments you posted here, it'd be waste of time seeing it anyway. Thank you for your contribution here !

Oh well, I havent had much fun recently, BUT I did see some films when in need of mental break. ;D I saw the Pirates of the Carib. 2 days ago and I must admit I loved the film ... its camera, its dark colours ;D, its mood, etc. and it is perhaps the first time I properly took notice of Johnny Depp ;D ;D ... I read somewhere that he tried to "picture" his pirate after rock stars, esp. Keith Richards ... actually, he did succeed in that in a way. And I saw Terminator 3 ... I perhaps liked T2 best, the T3 is kinda weak, but well, if in need of mental break, T3 actually does its service. Next film I am going to see is Matrix Revolutions that shall come to our cinemas some time in autumn .... and couple of other films are on my list too.
