After some time I put a movie DVD on ... Pirates of the Caribbean. ;D It makes quite some change to the noisy stuff I have been watching lately. ;D

I watched Smiles Of A Summer Night by Ingmar Bergman from 1955 on DVD. This is a comedy by Bergman which should surprise anybody who has heard that he only makes heavy drama. It also has 'bonus" interviews and discussions of the film!..hahaha Willow. ;D I also saw Sunset Boulevard by Billy Wilder from 1950. A classic film but one I have never seen before. Highly recommended and the DVD has bonuses as well!

I have watched two more DVDs today. A film by Jean-Luc Godard called A Woman Is A Woman from 1961. This is on the Criterion Collection DVD instead of the crappy Fox Lorber DVD. I saw this film last year and enjoyed it very much. The DVD has a short film by Godard made in 1957 as a bonus. A treat as well! The other was The Dreamers by Bernardo Bertolucci from 2003. I like this film overall but I wished the script dealt more with the protesting events of 1968 in Paris than dealing with the relationships with the brother, the sister and the American student. Then again the bonus material on the DVD dealt with the background of the 1968 protests in a featurette. I find it strange that I learnt more from the supplementary material than the film inself.

I recently bought the 5 DVD boxset of the Warner Bros. Film Noir Classic Collection. The individual films are The Asphalt Jungle, Gun Crazy, Murder My Sweet, Out Of The Past and The Set-Up.
I enjoyed all of the films but I feel The Set-Up is the weak link in the boxset.

Last DVD I watched was Starsky&Hutch ... I FELL ASLEEP WATCHING IT, it was on my boyfriend's lap on our comfy sofa ... that is all i can remember from the Starsky&Hutch movie experience ... better than the film me thinks
The DVD i watched last week was better though. It was The Butterfly Effect. Clever, but disturbing film. It is still on my mind, even after more than a week after watching it. My friend said that she would have to watch the film again to fully understand the whole idea. It basically is a story of a twentysomething guy who can, through series of mind blackouts, go back to HIS past, change things to suit him and return to the present, taking the consequences of the changes he made through his blackouts. It has few twists to it and the whole film comes out as a dark but rather inteligent piece. I think a lot of this movie, but because of some scenes that i found REALLY DISTURBING, i don't think i'd watch it again.
