REVIEW WHITESNAKE KARLSTAD
by Sammy Jo
Dear David and the fab 5 thank you all for a wonderful show! You gave it all, and then some!
The sound was flawless and the set list exceeded any expectations - some old, and some new.
I even enjoyed the guitar solo (I usually dont I tend to find them a bit tedious). But Doug surprised with an unusual approach with lots of feel to it and without tearing the guitar apart (as is usually the case), although he easily could have if he wanted to.
Simply a great guitar player!
Marco (Davids Latino Lothario) - the most versatile musician, a playful showman with a GIANT voice of his own, entertained us as ONLY he can (if you ever get a chance to see him with one of his many other projects, as well as his own jazz trio DONT MISS OUT!!!)
Together with the rest of the guys, they all make a KILLER line up – the best ever – bringing “Young Blood” to old classics.
And of course, THE Snake himself... I may be wrong, but something tells me David should have taken care of his
health instead of performing that night. I suspect he was still bothered with his sinuses, and yet he was hitting those well known high notes that only dogs can hear. His voice broke a couple of times while speaking to the audience, and I guess that’s one of the reasons he didn’t do any acapellas that night…? I was hoping we would be treated to “Only my Soul” or “Soldier of Fortune”, but I for one thoroughly enjoyed what we got – which was A LOT!
I appreciate the major efforts, knowing it’s been a looong tour with a tight schedule as well as a few challenges on the health department.
And finally - David’s sense of humour NEVER ceases to amuse me - my favourite quote of the night (while introducing the band): “This is the most dangerous part of the show, but he’s been sedated, he’s had his medication, so it’s ok… On bass – Marco Mendoza!
All in all a true class act above and beyond this world.
If you have a chance AT ALL to see these guys while theyre still here – GO!!! And Ill see DC and his merry White Sssnakes again in Glasgow.
