Prague ROCK CAFE gigs ... Overkill, Eminence at al

Back from OVERKILL .... LMAO it was good ... small place, couple of dozens of people, happy headbanging, no picture taking /i.e. ban on + bad light (I did few, but they are all fckd ... but so what. Plus the band was too close to me ... I mean, I banged against Dave' guitar neck )


Anyway, .... they played older + new stuff, some punkish tunes, things from WFO, Under the Influence, RelixIV (Old School) ... Fuck You and Drunken Wisdom were apparent hits, btw.

There were 2 support bands from Germany. I got the name of the first one : Contradiction ... they were pretty good IMO :

The second I dont know ... btw. on guitar they had a chick (the blond head) ... good to see ladies playing thrash !




And now Overkill ....










Plus I met there old friends of mine I havent seen for ages !!!!!! We agreed to meet at Slayer gig in summer (thus I learned there will be a Slayer gig in summer), and in Vizovice for Masters of Rock ... they too are going over to see Ratos de Porao ;D

This was again one of those gigs described as ... the audience consisted of the bands not playing at the moment, their families, their friends and several paying visitors. ;D


Fair enough ... it was a very good gig.

The 3 supporting bands were all Czech hard core outfits, only one them got as far as to produce (by their own means) a CD ... which is btw. in English and neatly designed ... sure I got a copy.

So anyway, so far I found these web-sites :

Btw. this is really funny, their bassist is from Roztoky, i.e. my home town, he drops in the same "shelter" / pub at the bus stop as I do, plus - Paulo I am not the only one in this country who is not driving ;D - when I got on the bus, the GLOOM (the bass, and tekkie support) followed ... they also boarded bits of the drum kit .... I guess the rest of the band travelled different parts of Prague and suburbs so they split the burden evenly. LMAO.

But they were really good !

I havent found a web of the other too ... the far best band (out of the Czech HC) were the Fourth Face ... they shall have some CD out soon.

I must admit I dont think I heard of them before .... the line up is

Alan Wallace - guitars
Wallace Parreiras - vocal
Andre Marcio - drums v(ex-OVERDOSE)
Jairo Guedz - bass (ex-Sepultura guitar; he appeared on the 1st two Sepul albums or so).

They have two albums and they wisely sold those at the gig so I got them .... ;D

As for the gig : genuine fast thrash metal ... lots of energy and fun ... as for the content : I only have to check out their lyrics ... not real chance to get a word out of the yell, groan and stuff .

Couple of shots here ... though the ROCK CAFE is a real dark place and you cannot do much with a regular digi camera !
