My favourite author is Chilean-born Isabel Allende. I love all her writings but my favourite book of all-time is "The House of the Spirits". A film was made a few years ago, but it was terrible! So don't judge the book by the film! I especially enjoy her "magic realism", inspired by the great Gabriel Garcia Marquez...
Presently, I am feeling rather philosophical, so I am reading Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" and I also plan to re-read Khalil Gibran's "The Wanderer". That is, if I ever get a moment's peace!!! ;D

I really don't have a particular favorite author because my reading interests are eclectic. I read topics as far reaching as plays, film directors, philosophy and physics.
I do favor August Strindberg and Henrik Ibsen as dramatists. In terms of science literature I admire Stephen Hawking, Michio Kaku and Lawrence Krauss. In terms of film and theatre criticism I read Egil Tornqvist, Lise-Lone and Frederick J. Marker. I like reading the philosophy Friedrich Nietzsche.

I am with Conrad on this one. I read many different things (so many books, so little time). I enjoy poetry...love the Rossettis! Peter Beresford Ellis for his books on Celtic culture, Jonathan Carroll, Michael Moorcock (ha ha Conrad). My interests are varied. At the moment I am reading Under the Net by Iris Murdoch...another of my favorites. She was a great writer!
And how could I forget Douglas Adams??
