Mary, may I suggest you to read Bunin's book of stories called Shadowed Paths - my favourite Stories from it are Revenge, Chapel, Hotel Madrid, Rusya, Heinrich and Natalie... But all of the stories from it are very good. And The one called Light Breathening - very good one. Not from that book, but still very very good. And one more thing - they all were written during World War 2nd and it speaks for itself. He was living in Grasse then. Oh! there's so much to be said about him. It'd take me whole life. Try the ones I mentioned above. Very classic and very dear.

I am currently reading a book of essays edited by Frederick J. Marker and Christopher Innes. The title is Modernism In European Drama which deals with the dramatists Ibsen, Strindberg, Pirandello and Beckett.

Mary, I LOVE Hermann Hesse too! I like a lot of authors.... Oscar Wilde (most like it in "The picture of Dorian Gray), Voltaire, Dickens, Stendhal.... Nick Bantock´s books (I picked my nickname from one of his books: Gripphin and Sabine) and now I´m reading Bernard Cornwell, "The Winter King" - about King Arthur. King Arthur is one of my passions, I have a lot of books talking about him!
