It's time I started a thread on the theatah since I am planning to go see as much theatre as my pocketbook will allow while I am here in London. Last week, I went to see Chicago. I wasn't sure I was going to like it because that kind of music doesn't really appeal to me, ( ) but I ended up really liking the performances, especially the dancing! The storyline is just a big piss-take on the American justice system! ;D Fantastic show! And guess who was in it? He was good though... and he even did a Baywatch slow motion run at the end of the performance, when he went to take a bow!

Most possibly the strangest musical I have ever seen: Jerry Springer - The Opera. ;D It's absolutely hilarious! It's a total satire of the Jerry Springer show. What makes it brilliant is the mix of trash culture and high-art (opera). This musical is definitely not for the easily-offended, but then again, neither is the Jerry Springer show. Check out the website below. Be sure to watch the video and listen to some of the songs. I particularly like "I just wanna dance" #21. www.jerryspringertheopera.comBut possibly the most hilarious portion of the evening was my trip to the bathroom during intermission.... See this? That was the toilet paper they had in the toilets! ;D Fitting, wouldn't you say? ;D I was so tempted to buy some of the merchandise... they had a couple of funny t-shirts that said "Crack Whore" and "Talk to the Ass". ;D The role of Jerry Springer was played by David Soul... the original Hutch from Starsky and Hutch! davidsoul.com/I actually found a link that has the script and lyrics to the entire show! libretto.musicals.ru/text.php?textid=578&language=1

Absolutely awesome show! The best play I have seen by far!! I am so glad I bought the tickets to see this. I loved the 1975 movie with Jack Nicholson (I'm planning to watch it again) and when I saw that another favourite actor, Christian Slater, was starring in it, I rushed to buy the tickets! I had 3rd row and Christian was right in front of me!. I was starstruck for the first 5 minutes or so but then I relaxed and concentrated on the play. ;D The actors were all fabulous. I enjoyed this play immensely! I took some photos at the very end when the cast took their bows. I'l post them soon! In the meantime, check out the website: www.overthecuckoosnest.com
